- We plan to host a voter registration rally event at our school, during lunch and to continue after school. We have already contacted the office of Supervisor Hilda Solis to support us. They are more than willing to come and help. Since we are a complex, we plan on opening it up to all 3 schools and not just STEAM. This is an important event and connects to our idea of helping those who are immigrants because although immigrant parents/ Latinx parents might not be able to vote, their children can still register and assist in taking a stand for them. This will allow students at our school to get involved, but we also plan to open it up to our surrounding community.
- We plan to be extremely active on social media for many reasons. It will allow us to spread awareness easily and it will also help us promote events that we plan on hosting as well as volunteering in.
- We plan on hosting workshops at our school based on the idea of our project which will be open to people within our surrounding communities. The workshops will include resume building, mock interviews, and makeovers.
- As part of the makeover workshop, we plan on hosting a “professional” clothing drive at our school which will help us provide clothing to people of low-income for job interviews.
- We have already gotten in contact with Guadalupe Camberos, who works alongside Supervisor Hilda Solis, in order to find volunteer opportunities revolving voter registration, working at polls, and campaigning for local elections,, as well as events that we can attend.
- We plan to work along the office of immigration, newly established in our City of South Gate.
- We plan to attend city council meetings held in Walnut Park to voice our concerns.
- At this moment, we have already filled up every single registration form provided at Girls Build LA summit, but we have contacted the office of Supervisor Hilda Solis for their support. Once again, they have lead us to the right people to get more forms. We will continue to volunteer hours at their own voting rally events. We have the power.
